Over the last few years art classes have been cut left and right in the school systems, and the focus has turned to standardized testing. You know that creativity is an important life skill for you child to thrive.  Entrepreneur, business owners, bosses, and CEO’s are searching for creative thinkers and coming up short.

As a parent you watched your child, dream, question and create, and you’re looking for ways to ignite that creative fire, and teach them to be a creative thinker, dreamer, and doer.

You see your children’s schools taking away the art lessons that your child needs and loves, you know that you need to do something, but you aren’t sure where to turn.

As a homeschooling parent it can be hard to feel like an expert in all subject areas. You want to provide your child with the best learning possible, but you also don’t want to spend most of your day driving from tutor to tutor.

You want freedom and flexibility , along with great content and skilled feedback for your child.

You know that creativity is important to all areas of life, but you aren’t sure how to teach it.

You want art/ creativity to go past product production, and into ideation and implementation.

You want your child to have a strong foundation that they can use in all areas of life, art, and career.

You can’t find any art curriculum that you love, and you don’t feel comfortable putting it into action.

That’s where I come in. As a high school art teacher, textile artist, and gallery owner, I’ve seen the importance of creative thought first hand. I’ve also seen it disappearing in schools. After witnessing the decline in creative thought and ability in teens, I made the decision to focus my masters degree in understanding and perfecting creative thought development in the secondary student. And while I’ve spent years applying it in my classroom, it’s time to share it with you.

Question/ Create is a 6 week course that will help your child to build a strong foundation in creative thought, that they can apply to all areas of their life.

– Students will gain an understanding of the elements and principals of art and design, and apply them to art making

-students will develop creative thinking skills through problem solving, asking questions, and creating original works of art

– Students will gain confidence in look at and talking about their work and the work of others

– Each week students will be exposed to a medium/technique, and learn how to create a piece based off of the elements and principals of art.

– Students will have a solid foundation in 2D design by the end of the 6 weeks

As a member of this course, you’ll receive…

  • Six weeks of online downloadable lessons, videos, prompts and worksheets from Amber.

About your teacher

top 10 books about creativityI”m  an educator, textile designer, entrepreneur, and stellar day dreamer.

I received my Art Education degree from Messiah College, and earned my masters in Creativity Studies from Union Institute and University.

Amber saw from first-hand experience that creativity education and creative thinking were sorely lacking within the school system and within our culture at large. So instead of hoping things would change, she decided to be the change.  Deborah Kearns, professor

I’ve taught high school Art for 8 years, while running my textile design business on the side. While teaching I’ve learned that our schools are teaching creativity and dreams right out of our students, while developing an obsession for empty standards. my love for teaching, learning, and creativity spurred me to create The Unstandardized Standard, and to design programs that foster creativity in children.

I believe that your children born with amazing gifts, and I want to encourage their creativity and curiosity to flourish and thrive.
