How to become a fashion illustrator?
You have a year or two left of high school, and you think that it would be awesome to work in the fashion industry, but your parents are terrified that you’re going to become yet another ” starving artist.”
Side note to the parents: Have you ever met a starving artist? Really this is a serious question, it’s one of those phrases that gets thrown around, yet I don’t know many people who actually know a starving artist. I’m not trying to make you feel bad or stupid. This is a serious question that you need to ask yourself. Where did all of our beliefs and feelings about artist come from.
Fear has a funny way of sneaking in when we don’t have a lot of information about a topic, and making us even more afraid.
I”m determined to change that.
In the interview below I talk with Fashion Illustrator Holly Nicholas about how she became a full time fashion illustrator, and how instagram launched her career.
Want to be sure that your child doesn’t become a starving artist?
Yes , Please!
You can find out more about Holly and her work at her website, and be sure to follow her on instagram. If you’re interested in giving fashion illustration a try, you’re going to want to get your hands on some Copic markers. They are bit pricey, but totally worth it.
