How to help students develop interesting ideas
You’ve given your students a list of project choices for 3D materials and they’re asking questions like…. “Can I make a cardboard cutout of my initials and decorate it with flowers?” “Can I cut out a heart and put pictures on it?” This makes you want to slam your head into the chalkboard… you’re just waiting for the next student to ask if they can sprinkle glitter all over something.
It can be hard to get students in the art room ( well really, who am I kidding, any room) , to develop in-depth ideas, especially once we hit spring.
Try this exercise, I use it both for myself and with my students, they love it, I love reading what they’ve written, and it really helps to push their ideas much farther.
