How to Help Students Take Ownership of Their Work

Posted in blog

While I love teaching art for the sake of time spent creating, I love it even more because of the power that art has. When teaching art, one of my goals is to help students to learn how to communicate, helping them to understand that art is a language. The other thing that I want them to learn, is how to take ownership of their decisions. When making art, there are rarely right or wrong answers, which means that students can’t just memorize more information, they need to process, make choices, and then take ownership of the choices that they make.

If this is something that you want to do more of in your classroom, I’m excited to share that I worked with The Art of Education University, to create a PRO pack that focuses on this topic. Head over to the PRO library to check it out.
