Where We’re Going in 2020

Posted in blog

As the year comes to a close I’ve been reflecting on my business. Thinking about how it started 8 years ago, where it is now, and where I want it to go.

I started The Unstandardized Standard while I was teaching 9-12 grade art in the public school system. I loved my students but was growing frustrated with standardized testing, and a push to teach students the “right answers” which seemed to be more about memorization, and less about finding problems and understanding how to create answers.

This blog became an outlet for my frustration.

The content has grown and evolved but stayed focused on Art Education.

I still believe in the importance and power of Art Education and I believe that learning to think and act like an artist holds power that reaches well past the art room. And that is where this blog and my business is going to shift in 2020, and I hope you’ll join me.

More on the changes coming in the next few weeks. Today, I’m writing to say THANK YOU! Thank you for your commitment to art education. And THANK YOU for hanging out with me this little space on the internet.

I want to hear from you. What are your goals for 2020?

What do you want to learn more about?

Where do you need more support?

Here’s to becoming more creative, more confident, and finding more joy in 2020.
