A: While writing is part of the AP Art History course, your writing is not assessed on sentence structure, spelling, grammar, and the like. The focus is on your ability to communicate a response to a prompt, essay, question, or work of art through writing.
Q: How do I prepare to take AP Art History?
A: There is no one right way to prepare for the course, but my number one tip is to spend time looking at and reading about art. Students that have a strong background in history, also find that helps them through the course.
Q: Do I have to be a good artist to take AP Art History?
A: While we do make some art in the course, as it helps you to learn and remember, you do not have to demonstrate artistic skill. Students that are interesting in being artists and/or developing their artistic ability will benefit from taking an art history course.
Q: What is on the AP Art History Exam?
A: The art history is exam is made up of multiple-choice and free-response questions. The exam focuses on the 250 image set created by the college board, however, there may be works outside of the image set for attribution questions.
