Q&A about AP Studio Art and the selected works portfolio. Your AP coordinator will receive a box of portfolios with instructions from the college board. Make sure to follow the instructions closely. Instructions will guide you through adding barcodes to the back of your work and printing out the writing section about your selected work.
Q: If a student did digital art of photography, do they need to print their work for selected works?
A: Yes. Selected works are 5 pieces that are sent physically to the college board.
Q: What size do the selected works need to be.
A: The works can be no larger than 18″x24″.
Q: Do works have to be matted, mounted, or framed?
A: Pieces that are smaller than 8″x10″ need to be matted or mounted so that they are at least 8″x10″. It is not required that students matt or mount other pieces, but it can be a good way to professionally present their work.
Q: Do selected works have to be pieces for your sustained investigation?
A: No, they can be works from your sustained investigation or other work created throughout the year.
Q: Do students need to write about the selected works?
A: Yes, students need to write about the prompt that inspired the work, the materials, and the processes for each piece.
Q: Can I send work that is on a stretched canvas?
A: No, you need to remove it from the canvas and attach it to matt board
Q: Should I cover my work with a top sheet?
A: If you have work that is delicate and might smudge like oil pastels, chalk pastels, or charcoal, you should add a protective cover. Hinge the cover on one side of the back of the work.
